At the Preliminary Conference to review the half term 2018 - 2023 and deploy the 2021 tasks of the National Union of Building Workers, Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, President of Vinaconex Corporation’s Trade Union offered practical experiences in renewing the contents and methods of operation to increase the efficiency of trade union activities in the situation of changing ownership without state capital.
KEEP ONLY ONE PERMANENT TRADE UNION OFFICER INSTEAD OF 7-10 ONES.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, President of Vinaconex Corporation’s Trade Union said that many union members and employees couldn’t help but worry about whether Vinaconex would continue to support the activities of Party organisations, Youth Unions, and Trade Unions after the Corporation officially became a unit without state capital at the end of 2018, along with other concerns about jobs, salaries, benefits, etc.
However, after a short time, the Corporation's Board of Directors has managed to stabilize the employee attitudes, modify their working styles and mindsets, and help them to quickly adapt to the new mechanism. Moreover, the activities of the trade unions have been cared for and had favorable conditions to foster a positive working environment, which helps the Corporation to grow more and more.
According to Mr. Cuong, the Trade Union of Vinaconex has gradually renewed the contents and methods of operation to be more practical and efficient, in line with the new ownership conditions. The trade union’s meetings used to take place frequently during office hours and the officials used to spend a lot of time in the trade union’s events and activities. After corporate restructuring, these events and meetings have taken less time, been more concise, and got straight to the point.
“To avoid interfering with production and business, events and activities with a large number of participants are scheduled for the weekends. The trade union used to have 7-10 permanent officers, but now only one person’s in charge it, along with many professional tasks.
The part-time trade union officers are responsible to many other professional tasks so they have to constantly develop themselves to be able to handle a lot of trade union concerns while still ensure the completion of professional jobs. Besides, union members and employees in Corporation are also required to renew their mindsets, improve themselves and take the jobs seriously and efficiently.
The operation of the Vinaconex Joint Stock Corporation Trade Union has been adjusted to be more substantive and effective that help the employer find out that the union not only takes good care of and protects the legitimate rights and interests of employees, but also always accompany and support to the corporation’s development.
According to Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, during the operation process after the ownership restructure, all reports and proposals of the corporation’s Trade Union on its operations and activities have been well received, reviewed, guided and appoved by the Board of Directors.
Thanks to great success in production and business activities, the employees’ income in the Company has increased from an average of VND 8 million/person/month in 2018 to VND 12 million/person/month in May 2020. The quality of the employees' material and spiritual lives has greatly enhanced.
In June 2019, the Corporation has issued a new regulation on salary distribution that the salary is determined based on three principles: working position, personal capacity and working performance; making sure the income is be equal to or higher than one for similar position on the job market, offering incentives to highly qualified employees.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong stated: “The salary payment is always made in full and on time. Employees try their best and work hard for business development as they feel secure in their jobs. When social distancing was implemented across the country due to the Covid-19 pandemic, many employees were allowed to have a break or work from home while still receiving 100% of their salaries.
He also emphasized that in addition to representing and protecting employees' rights and interests, Vinaconex’s Trade Union serves as a bridge between employees and employers, always complying with policies and guidelines of the government, and contributing to the harmonious corporative relationship for the shared development.
“Renewing can’t be done in a single day but it requires a continual transformation process from the harmonous coordination between the trade union and the government to together achieve the substantive and sustainable objectives of the corporation in the future.” Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, President of Vinaconex Corporation’s Trade Union |
