On the Long Thanh airport construction site, the Vinaconex contractor had been deploying over 600 specilized vehicles & machinery, 735 workers and engineers to routinely perform in three shifts, taking advantage of favourable weather and 24-hour overtime to accelerate progress.
The Long Thanh airport project started on January 5, 2021, and is invested by Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV). The project’s first phase has a total investment of more than 109,000 billion VND, is expected to reach level 4F of an international airport, including: one runway, 1 passenger terminal and synchronous auxiliary works. Joint venture of Truong Son Corp - Vinaconex - ACC - Cienco 8 - Phuc Loc – Truong Son Advisory is in charge of the bidding package no.3.4 including ground leveling and drainage works worth VND 4,411.62 billion.
Current excavation and backfilling in Package No. 3.4 of the whole joint venture total 115.00 million m3 of soil, of which Vinaconex accounts for 28% of the total volume implemented in this package.
Vinaconex has so far completed 15.40/28.15 million m3, equivalent to 54.7% of the workload.
According to Mr. Kieu Cao Hung, Executive Director of Long Thanh Airport Construction, the progress is now being sped up from 38 months to 18 months at the investor's request.
Since basalt red soil makes up the majority of the project's foundation, ground leveling is challenging and weather-dependent.
The operation takes place at the construction site for 24 hours per day, regardless of day or night, to meet the investor's desire to speed up the progress.

Despite inclement weather and tight deadlines, Vinaconex contractor still adheres to the plans to ensure the project’s quality.
Previously, the Vinaconex-Vimeco joint venture accomplished 100% of the workload in the package no. 5.6, which began at the end of June 2022, 78 days earlier than the deadline specified in the contract. The findings of an ultrasonic test to assess the placed piers' homogeneity show that 467 of the 467 drilled piers carried out by the Vinaconex-Vimeco joint venture are of high quality. Vinaconex's rapid construction and early completion of all items in Bidding Package No. 5.6 serve as the foundation for accelerating work and completing the following phases of this critical project.
