The expansion of Terminal 2 is of significant importance to the aviation infrastructure system in Northern Vietnam, helping to alleviate congestion while increasing T2 Terminal's operational capacity from 10 million to 15 million passengers annually, meeting growing travel demand. Notably, featuring modern equipment and technology deployed for the first time within Vietnam's airport network system, Noi Bai International Airport also marks a step forward in applying automation and digitalization solutions, enhancing operational efficiency and management capabilities.
Smart security screening systems shorten check-in and waiting times for passengers.
The inauguration of the T2 Passenger Terminal Expansion Project at Noi Bai International Airport not only enhances operational capacity and the appearance of the Capital's gateway airport but also affirms VINACONEX's capability, reputation, and responsibility as a leading contractor actively participating in constructing key national transport infrastructure projects, partnering with the State and investors to develop modern, integrated, and sustainable infrastructure systems.
VINACONEX served as the main contractor undertaking 60% of the construction package value for the T2 Passenger Terminal expansion project at Noi Bai International Airport.
Following expansion, T2 Terminal's total floor area increased from 139,216 sqm to 200,164 sqm. Passenger service systems have been comprehensively upgraded with 6 check-in islands and 144 check-in counters, including 24 automatic bag drop counters and 24 check-in kiosks. Security screening areas have increased from 2 to 3 zones; boarding gates have increased from 17 to 30; baggage claim carousels have increased from 6 to 8, helping reduce waiting times and improve service quality.
Additionally, security screening areas for passengers increased from 2 to 3 zones (A, B, C); boarding gates increased from 17 to 30, numbered progressively from the central area outward to the East and West wings. Arrival baggage claim carousels increased from 6 to 8, reducing immigration waiting times.
Smart Security: The technological highlight lies in the security control system featuring six new-generation 3D screening machines and three modern Body Scanners meeting TSA standards.
The expanded T2 Terminal focuses on enhancing user experience through ecological design (Green Airport) and specialized amenities serving diverse passenger groups.
