The project to construct the grade-separated interchange between Ring Road 3.5 and Thang Long Boulevard (An Khanh Commune) was approved by the Hanoi People’s Committee, with a construction timeline scheduled for 2022-2026. By late February 2025, the project officially broke ground after site clearance had been completed.
Designed as a key component of the Capital Region’s ring-road network, the Ring Road 3.5 - Thang Long Boulevard interchange serves as a “backbone” corridor, expanding urban development space, reducing pressure on the city center, and driving westward urban growth.
After more than eight months of construction, the initial shape of the grade-separated interchange has begun to emerge. The vast construction site is operating at full capacity, accelerating progress to meet the project’s delivery milestones.
The project has a total investment of approximately VND 2.384 trillion and is managed by the Hanoi Project Management Board of Civil Construction Investment. At Package No. 28, one of the project’s most critical components, VINACONEX and the Thang Long Joint Venture are responsible for preparing detailed construction drawings (including complete BIM application, executing all transportation and technical infrastructure works, and procuring and installing project equipment - excluding the relocation of existing utilities).
In particular, the comprehensive Building Information Modeling (BIM) system is being applied to coordinate design, progress, and quality management, enabling seamless planning, preventing conflicts and overlaps between work items, and maintaining the construction schedule.
VINACONEX and the Joint Venture have achieved significant progress across all work categories. Specifically:
Road and technical infrastructure works completed 100% of cement-deep mixing (CDM) ground improvement piles. Earth excavation and K95 sand embankment for the roadbed have reached 25% and 60% completion, respectively.
