Vinaconex partners with viettel on Vietnam’s largest data center
Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, on April 23, 2025, Viettel Group officially held the groundbreaking ceremony for the Viettel High-Tech Data and Research and Development Center at Tan Phu Trung Industrial Park, Cu Chi District, Ho Chi Minh City. VINACONEX is proud to be the contractor for this major project.
he groundbreaking ceremony was attended by key figures including Deputy Defense Minister Sr. Lt. Gen. Vo Minh Luong, member of the Party Central Committee; Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc, member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan; and Major General Tao Duc Thang, Chairman and CEO of Viettel Group, along with other stakeholders.
In the event, representing VINACONEX – the selected contractor for the construction package of the project’s pile and underground parts were Pham Van Ngo, Head of the Southern Representative Office, and Lai Duc Toan, Deputy Director of the Construction Department and Deputy General Director of VINACONEX CM.
In his speech, Major General Tao Duc Thang emphasized that the entire data center would be operated by AI, developed by Viettel, capable of processing millions of monitoring points in real-time, with self-learning and self-optimization features. Notably, the entire security, surveillance, and digital coordination solutions are developed by Viettel, ensuring full control over technology and independence from third parties.
Spanning nearly 4 hectares, the center will have a design capacity of up to 140 MW, and about 10,000 racks. This will be the largest data center in Vietnam to date and one of the first to be ready for super high-power “AI rack generation”, fully meeting global standards.
Under the signed contract, VINACONEX is responsible for constructing the piling foundation and underground works for this critical project.
Phase 1 of the project is expected to be operational in Q1 2026, and the entire project will be completed before 2030.
