In response to the 2024 Workers' Month organized by the Central Steering Committee for Action Month on Occupational Safety and Hygiene and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, trade unions across the Vinaconex system have implemented practical, employee-focused activities.
During April and May 2024, the Vinaconex Trade Union collaborated with the Brand and Occupational Safety Department of Corporation's Construction Board to to inspect compliance with the 2019 Labor Code; checking the compliance with brand image recognition, occupational safety and hygiene, fire and explosion prevention, emergency incident response, and environmental protection (OSH, FEP, EIR, EP) at key projects nationwide where the Corporation takes part in construction (folowing the Inspection Plan approved by the General Director of the Corporation in Decision No. 642/QD-TH-AT-XD dated April 2, 2024.
The Inspection Team worked directly with the Executive Board/Steering Committee on 11 key on-going projects, including civil and industrial construction, infrastructure, and transportation infrastructure, etc. These projects included bidding packages for the Long Thanh International Airport construction investment project (phase 1), the North-South expressway construction project (2021-2025), Package No. 09 - TP2 XL of the Ring Road No. 4 – Hanoi capital region project, the Tuyen Quang-Ha Giang Expressway, the Cat Ba Amatina urban-tourism project in Hai Phong city, the Clean Industrial Park Project in Hung Yen province, and so on.
According to the Inspection Team’s result, the projects all adhered to the guidelines on brand image recognition, occupational safety and hygiene, fire and explosion prevention, emergency incident response, environmental protection, and disease prevention. The necessary legal documents at the project/construction site were being completed, and the 2019 Labor Code provisions were also strictly complied with.
Vinaconex not only ensured job security and timely payment of salaries, bonuses, and benefits but also provided suitable working conditions, rest areas, and meal options for employees. The Corporation arranged flexible schedules, fully equipped workers with personal protective equipment, conducted OSH training, launched labor emulation campaigns, and held regular safety activities at project sites.
Additionally, the representative of the Corporation's Trade Union presented gifts and sun protection tools to encourage workers to stay healthy and work efficiently during the hot season, facilitating the early completion of projects. That enhances Vinaconex's reputation, solidify its brand as a professional entity. The Corporation's Trade Union plans to allocate over VND 400 million to support union members and workers during the 2024 hot season.
