On the morning of November 13, General Secretary To Lam and a Central Government delegation conducted an on-site inspection of construction progress at Long Thanh International Airport, the nation’s new aviation landmark.
Accompanying the General Secretary were Politburo Member, Standing Member of the Document Subcommittee for the 14th National Party Congress Nguyen Van Nen; Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang; Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha; Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Vu Hong Thanh; Chief of Office of the Party Central Committee Pham Gia Tuc; along with Central Committee members, leaders of ministries, agencies, localities, and State-owned enterprises.
During the working session, the General Secretary emphasized that Long Thanh Airport represents the nation’s aspiration for development. He commended project units for their efforts, noting that many components are progressing on schedule.
He also asked relevant parties to prioritize passenger service quality, attraction of international airlines, and synchronized infrastructure connectivity around the airport.
According to the Vietnam Airports Corporation, units are mobilizing maximum manpower and equipment to complete major items in preparation for the first technical flight on December 19.
At the massive construction site, nearly 14,000 personnel and thousands of machines are working “three shifts, four crews” to meet the Government’s progress directives.
The General Secretary warmly greeted, encouraged, and presented gifts to engineers, officers, and workers of VINACONEX and other contractors directly engaged in on-site construction.
As the project enters its decisive phase, VINACONEX and partner units remain determined to achieve the goal of being ready for the first technical flight on December 19 and to commence commercial operations in 2026.
