On October 4, 2026, Politburo member and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc led a government delegation on an inspection of Long Thanh International Airport and its connecting transport routes. The delegation was welcomed by VINACONEX General Director Pham Thai Duong, members of the Executive Board, and company employees, who also attended the working session.
During the visit, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc and the delegation inspected key construction packages on-site and received comprehensive progress briefings on milestones achieved and priority initiatives for the upcoming sprint phase.
Speaking at the session, Mr. Pham Gia Tuc described Long Thanh International Airport as a nationally important infrastructure project that will support socioeconomic growth and strengthen Vietnam's position in the region.
After touring the site, the Deputy Prime Minister said the transport network serving Long Thanh Airport was clearly taking shape. He praised ministries, agencies, local authorities, the project owner, contractors, and construction crews for working together to overcome challenges, resolve obstacles, and keep the project moving forward.
According to a representative of the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), Component Project 3 includes 16 major construction and installation packages, four of which have been completed. Work completed to date accounts for more than 80% of the total contract value.
Several major packages at the passenger terminal are now largely complete. Key systems, including escalators, baggage handling systems (BHS), security scanners, and passenger boarding bridges, are undergoing trial runs and operational checks to ensure they meet technical and safety standards. Under the master schedule, trial operations will take place in October and November 2026, ahead of a planned commercial opening in December.
With little time left and a substantial amount of work still to be done, the Deputy Prime Minister instructed all teams to move immediately into the final push. He called for tight control of each package’s schedule, with no complacency, delays, or shifting of responsibility. For critical-path work involving large construction volumes, he directed contractors to operate around the clock and deploy as many workers, specialized machines, and other resources as needed.
He also stressed that faster progress must not come at the expense of quality, security, or workplace safety. Every structure and technical system must undergo thorough inspection and acceptance testing before the airport begins commercial operations.
During the visit, the government delegation presented gifts to construction workers in recognition of their dedication and hard work on the project.
As one of the main contractors on the Long Thanh International Airport project, VINACONEX is delivering several major packages, including the passenger terminal, aircraft parking aprons, internal roads and utility systems, runways, and taxiways.
During the final push, VINACONEX is focusing its resources on staying on schedule and working closely with the project owner, engineering consultants, and other contractors. Strong quality and safety controls remain central to completing every package on time.
After the session, General Director Pham Thai Duong conducted a follow-up inspection of VINACONEX projects improving transport links between Ho Chi Minh City and Long Thanh.
Upon completing the inspection, General Director Pham Thai Duong urged all construction units to adhere strictly to project milestones, prioritize key structural items, proactively address on-site difficulties, and safeguard quality and safety to ensure the project reaches the finish line on schedule.
VINACONEX is pushing forward in a coordinated way on both the airport works and the connecting transport routes, helping to complete the infrastructure system serving Long Thanh International Airport and meeting connectivity and operational requirements in the period ahead.
