Terminal T2 - Phu Bai International Airport (Thua Thien Hue) is one of civil aviation infrastructures, boasting a unique architecture and great esthetics in Vietnam and will serve as a new aviation hub for both donestic and internationa travelers. VINACONEX Corporation and joint venture are honored to be the contractors for this key project.
On the morning of June 17, the T2 passenger terminal inauguration ceremony was held at Phu Bai International Airport.
The ceremony took place in the presence of Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thanh, Politburo member, President of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics; Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang; Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thanh; Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh, Chairman of the Commission for the Management of State Capital at Enterprises; leaders of Thua Thien Hue province and some nearby localities.
Representing Vinaconex, the leading member of the contractor joint venture participating in the project were Mr. Dao Ngoc Thanh, Chairman of the Corporation’s Board of Directors; member of the BOD of the Corporation.
According to Mr. Lai Xuan Thanh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ACV, the project investor, preceding the inauguration ceremony, passenger terminal T2 was put into operation from April 28. The repairing, upgrading of Phu Bai International Airport is just the beginning, the next task of ACV is to collaborate with the aviation industry and Thua Thien Hue province to promote market development and expand flight routes, especially international flights. Especially, with the new modern passenger terminal T2, Phu Bai International Airport will become a new aviation hub enhancing regional and international connectivity. It is in a strong competitive position compared to other regional aviation hubs, worthy of the "contemplate, dreamy and developed" Hue Ancient Capital.
Putting the Phu Bai Airport’s passenger terminal T2 into operation has met the actual requirements of operation and future passenger demand, enhanced the exploitation capacity of Phu Bai International Airport, as well as made an important contribution to fostering the economic development of Thua Thien Hue province, while providing important transportation infrastructure for regional connectivity. More specifically, that would have an impact on economic growth and restructuring, transport capacity, investment attraction, services, tourism, employment, poverty reduction, and ensure national defense and security.
During the event, Mr. Dao Ngoc Thanh, Chairman of the Vinaconex Corporation’s Board of Directors at the ceremony, the leading unit of the joint venture tasked with executing the project, shared that the project has been receiving attention and guidance from various leaders of the Party, the Government, the Ministry of Transport, and ACV since it commenced in December 2019. The project has also received support from the authorities and residents of Thua Thien Hue province in removing obstacles related to policies, mechanisms, and capital resources. This support has helped the contractors complete their assigned tasks, ensuring the project is finished on schedule while maintaining high-quality construction, esthetics, and safety standards.
With this project, VINACONEX and contractors are honored to have contributed to the national airport network's completion, which will enhance connectivity and promote socio-economic development in Thua Thien Hue province, taking it to new heights.
The construction of Passenger Terminal T2 at Phu Bai International Airport kicked off on December 29, 2019 by Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) as the project owner with an investment of VND 2,300 billion. It has a capacity of 5 million passengers per year including 1 million international and 4 million domestic passengers. The design of the terminal was inspired by Ngu Mountain and features Hue Imperial Citadel with a multi-tiered roof design. Terminal T2 was completed and became operational from April 28, 2023. Terminal T2 is connected to the aircraft apron via 4 passenger boarding bridges (PBB), including 3 PBBs serving for Code C aircraft and 1 double PBB, which can accommodate either 1 Code E aircraft or 2 Code C aircrafts simultaneously. The construction of the project was carried out by a joint venture between Vietnam Construction and Import-Export Corporation (VINACONEX), ATAD Steel Structure Joint Stock Company, R.E.E Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Joint Stock Company, and Thang Long Bridge No.7 Joint Stock Company. The construction value of the project was over VND 1,545 billion and construction time of 510 days. VINACONEX as the head of the joint venture, was responsible for more than 48% of the workload.
