On July 31, “The Groundbreaking Ceremony of the investment project on upgrade and renovation of K Hospitals – branches I and II” took place in K Hospital. This significant project commemorates the hospital's new development and the 100th establishment anniversary of the Indochina Curie Institute - the predecessor of K Hospital (October 19, 1923 - October 19, 2023).
Mr. Mai Tien Dung, Minister – Chairman of the Government Office, Mr. Ngo Van Quy, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee, Dr. Truong Quoc Cuong, Deputy Minister of Health; Prof. Dr. Tran Van Thuan, Deputy Minister of Health attended and issued the order to commence the construction.
The investment project on upgrade and renovation of K Hospitals – branches I and II was approved in Decision No. 4266/QD – BYT dated July 4, 2018 of the Minister of Health.
The project is implemented in accordance with the Master Program of the Government and the Ministry of Health on investment in building, renovating, and upgrading specialized Hospitals across the country, with a total investment of VND 750 billion, contributing to capacity building and addressing the problem of overcrowding in cancer examination and treatment in Vietnam.
According to the design plan, K Hospital branche I at Quan Su would have a new built multi-purpose building with an area of about 26,000 sqm (04 basements and 06 floors), includes functional departments of the Institute for Cancer Research and Prevention such as medical examination areas, laboratories, etc. The project has a scale of about 200 beds for inpatient treatment, 120 chairs for outpatient treatment in the daytime and clinical trials; K Hospital - Branch II in Tam Hiep commune is renovated, repaired, and equipped with medical equipment to meet the scale of 200 beds.
Dr. Truong Quoc Cuong, Deputy Minister of Health highly appreciated the collectives’ efforts of the K Hospital in the past and expresses his belief that the hospital made a bigger leap forward in the future when project is completed and put into operation. He emphasized that "The investment project to upgrade and renovate the K hospital’s branches I and II with a total investment of VND750 billion, of which VND 700 billion is from government bonds, it has shown the concern of the Party and State for the development of the Hospital.” Therefore, the hospital shall concentrate on completing the project on schedule, safely, and with high quality in order to put it into use as soon as posible and enhance medical examination and treatment for the people.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Van Quang, Director of K Hospital, expressed his gratitude for the special attention of leaders of the Party, Government, National Assembly, especially the Ministry of Health; local leaders and people of the capital; “The completion of the project is an opportunity for the hospital to keep developing and serving the people”, he noted.
