Cua Dat reservoir is located in Chu river area (in Xuan My commune), about 17 km upstream from Bai Thuong dam. The lake has a capacity of nearly 1.5 billion m3, which is responsible for reducing floods for the downstream region, ensuring sufficient water supply for irrigation over 86,000 hectares of agricultural land, as well as water demand for industry and daily life. . In addition, this reservoir also has the task of helping to push salinity for the lower Chu River and combining with Cua Dat Hydropower Plant with 2 commercial generating sets with a total capacity of 97 MW, supplementing the supply to the grid. National electricity averages about 430 million KWh per year.
