The Vung Ang II thermal power BOT project is implemented by the main constructor - Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction Co., Ltd. Having been honored to engage as a construction contractor, Vinaconex has overcome all obstacles, sticking to the progress, ensuring the safety and quality of the project's items under Vinaconex’s responsibility.
Vung Ang II Thermal Power is a build–operate–transfer (BOT) project with a total investment of $2.2 billion and Vung Ang II Thermal Power Company Limited (VAPCO) as the main contractor. The project has a total capacity of 1330 MW, consisting of 2 machine units. It’s located in Hai Phong village, Ky Loi commune, Ky Anh town, Ha Tinh province, next to the existing Vung Ang I thermal power plant. According to the plan, the project, including the main plant, coal unloading jetty, ash and slag disposal areas, and related ancillary works, would be completed and put into commercial operation in the third quarter of 2025.
With outstanding competence and experience in construction of key national and international projects, particularly in the field of industrial construction, petrochemical project, Vinaconex is honored to have been chosen by the main constructor – Doosan Company (Korea), as a contractor for items of Package B (including central control building and technical infrastructure), with a value of about VND 453 billion (excluding VAT), and an approx 25-month implementation period (from April 2022 to April 2024).
Despite all obstacles, Vinaconex is moving forward with the concurrent construction of the package's items, including the CCB, Turbine House, Chimney Foundation, Transformers, etc., and is striving to finish and hand over the entire package by April 2024 in line with the committed schedule.
The CCB operator is currently preparing to pour concrete for the third floor (expected on October 21) after finishing the rough construction, floor, and beams on the 1st & 2nd floors.
As for Turbine House: In Turbine #1, finished concreting foundations MF1 (Cep pit), MF2, and particularly STG1 with a concrete volume of 2500 m3. Executing the erection, concrete pouring of the cable pit and excavation work for turbine #2’s foundation.
