DEPOYING THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE EXPANDED IALY HYDROPOWER PLANT WORTH OVER VND 6 TRILLION

On the afternoon of April 27, Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) and a joint venture of contractors: Lung Lo Construction Corporation, Truong Son Construction Corporation (Ministry of Defense), Song Da Corporation, and Vietnam Import-Export and Construction, LILAMA 1 JSC held the Contract Signing Ceremony for Package 37 (XL-05) - “Construction and installation of Ialy Hydropower Plant Extension project”.

Ialy Hydropower Plant Expansion Project has been approved by the Prime Minister for investment policy; The State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises approves the feasibility study report for EVN to make an investment decision; EVN assigned the Power Project Management Unit 2 to be the Investor's representative. The project consists of 2 units with a total installed capacity of 360MW, and a total investment of about VND 6,398 billion.

Package 37 (XL-05) - Construction and installation of works under the Ialy Hydropower Plant Expansion Project has a total value of VND 2,365 billion. This is a large bidding package of the Project, with complex technical requirements and nature, decisive to the completion progress of the Project. The main construction items of the bidding package include:

• The Construction and installation of equipment for the main works such as the inlet leading to the intake, headrace tunnel, surge tank, penstock, powerhouse, tailrace, cut-off-wall, reinforced and anti-rolling taluy roof, T1 training walls and diversion channel.
• Construction of work items in service of construction such as water intake dyke; T2 training wall; the auxiliary and access tunnels; service roads; material gathering yard.
• Other construction-related preliminary and auxiliary tasks, as well as requirements for safety, health, the environment, and society.

According to the representative of the contractor joint venture - Colonel Tang Van Chi - General Director of Lung Lo Construction Corporation, the joint venture units directly constructed many large hydropower projects in the country such as Hoa Binh Hydropower plant, Ialy HP, Huoi Quang HP, Ban Chat HP, Son La HP, A Vuong HP, Krong Nhang HP, Song Tranh HP, Day Hlinh HP, Srepok 3 HP, Thac Mo HP, Buon Kuop HP, Buon TuaSrah HP, etc. and affirmed their position, prestige, and brand name, especially in the field of hydropower plant construction.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Duong Quang Thanh, Chairman of EVN's Member Council stated that EVN required PMU 2 to coordinate with the units of the contractor joint venture to deploy all resources, and equipment to commence the project construction as soon as possible, especially to complete the dyke dam before the water accumulation phase of Ialy existing reservoir. Besides, the project schedule and quality; the HSE system (health- safety- environment) shall be ensured and strictly follow the control regulations to minimize the impact on the social environment during the project implementation process in accordance with the stipulations in the Contract.
