On the morning of January 9, 2021, the construction of the Vinh Tuy bridge (phase 2) spanning the Red River officially commenced. Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue, Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee; Mr. Chu Ngoc Anh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hanoi; Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council; Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Dong, Deputy Minister of Transport attended and issued the order to kick off the construction.
According to the design, Vinh Tuy bridge (phase 2) is built downstream of the Red River, parallel with Vinh Tuy Bridge 1. The total length of the bridge and approach is 3,473 meters with four lanes, a surface width of 19.25 meters (4 lanes), and a static height of 11 meters. The new bridge would start from the intersection of Nguyen Khoai and Minh Khai streets and end at the crossroads of Long Bien - Thach Ban and Co Linh streets, built with an estimated investment capital of more than VND2.538 trillion (US$107 million). implementation period from 2020 to 2022.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Chu Ngoc Anh noted that Vinh Tuy bridge construction investment project phase 2 is one of the urgent key projects of Hanoi City. The project will complete the entirety of Hanoi’s Belt Road No. 2, meeting increasing transport demand between Hanoi and localities in the city’s north and northeast sides. Therefore, he requested the contractors and related units to closely cooperate in the implementation of the construction work in order to assure quality and on-time completion of the project.
On behalf of the project’s contractors (Bridge Construction No. 75 JSC, Construction and Investment JSC No. 18, Thang Long Bridge No. 7 JSC), Mr. Dao Ngoc Thanh, Chairman of Vinaconex Corporation’s BOD expressed his honor and pride when Vinaconex was selected as the project’s contractor. Vinaconex is committed to performing the assigned tasks with the highest capacity and determination to ensure the schedule, quality, safety, and environmental sanitation of the project.
