At the construction site of Ring Road No. 4’s Package 9, a section running through Hoai Duc district (Hanoi), reporters from VTC News observed a hectic and high-intensity working scene, with workers pushing forward on the project even late into the night.
Nguyen Hoang Hai, the general site manager of Package No. 9 under Vinaconex contractor, explained that recent heavy rains in Hanoi had slowed progress. As soon as the weather cleared, the team ramped up efforts, working overtime through the night to make up for lost time.
Package No. 9 covers a 23-km section passing through Dan Phuong and Hoai Duc districts and has reached approximately 24% completion.
With a steady supply of sand for filling, the site now operates in three shifts around the clock to accelerate progress.
Currently, Vinaconex contractor has deployed around 200 machines and 300 workers, working continuously to meet the project’s deadlines.
According to workers, night shifts usually run from 5 PM to 11 PM daily but can extend until 2 AM the next morning when necessary.
Many workers live on-site, eating and resting there to maintain productivity.
Nguyen Hoang Hai, the general site manager, set a goal of completing the project about six months ahead of schedule.
Numerous workers remained at the construction site, not going back home for several months.
Around 9 PM, Le Huy Hoang, the deputy commander of Package No.9’s second team, signaled a break for the workers for supper.

The quick meal of bread and milk recharged the night’s labor.
Dao Quy Tham, a road roller driver, noted that while working in the cooler nighttime hours, his productivity increased, making the overtime shifts more manageable. “It’s just a small contribution, but I feel proud seeing this key project for the capital take shape,” he said.

After only nine months since the groundbreaking ceremony, the shape of Hanoi’s Ring Road 4 is becoming visible. The construction team knows many more sleepless nights lie ahead as they push toward the project’s completion 6 months ahead of schedule.
The 112-kilometer Ring Road No. 4 in the Capital Region passes through Hanoi, Hung Yen, and Bac Ninh, beginning at the Hanoi - Lao Cai Expressway and ending at the Noi Bai - Ha Long Expressway. With a total investment exceeding VND 85,000 billion, the project broke ground in June 2023 and is scheduled for completion by 2026, with operations set to begin in 2027. The project has seven component packages, each implemented independently. In which, Hanoi implements three component projects: Compensation, support, and resettlement; construction of parallel urban roads and investment in building a highway system under a public-private partnership (PPP) model. Once completed, Ring Road No.4 will ease traffic congestion, enhance connectivity between provinces, and open new development opportunities for Hanoi, Hung Yen, Bac Ninh, and the broader Capital Region. |
